Pork Wontons

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 c finely chopped green onions
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Mix together all pork mixture ingredients except for pork. Mix in pork with your hands until everything is completely mixed.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg with 1 tbsp water. Dip finger in this mixture, then spread on two adjacent sides of wonton wrapper. This will help the wontons to stay sealed when cooking. Fill each wonton wrapper with about 1.5 tsp of pork mixture. Fold wontons so they look like triangles.

Cooking options: Fry in hot oil until meat is cooked through. Cover with lid while cooking (this won't take the crispiness away). Steam in 1 inch of water. Cover with lid and cook until water is evaporated and meat is cooked through. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes.
