Microwave Carmel Corn

Mom H (Dec 90--GREAT)

  • 1 c firmly packed dark b. sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/4 c Karo syrup
  • pinch salt
  • 8-10 cups popped corn-remove any unpopped kernels (2 reg bags or 3 indiv size bags)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • brown grocery bag

Bring brown sugar, margarine, Karo syrup, and salt to boil and boil 1 1/2 min. Add baking soda and stir (it will foam up). Pour over corn (in a brown grocery bag). Shake well. Place in microwave for 1 1/2 min on high. Shake again. Return to microwave for 1 1/2 min on high. Shake and pour out onto cookie sheets. Break clumps apart and let cool. Store in airtight container after completely cool.

NOTE: April 2017--If doing 1/2 recipe, only microwave in bag HALF the said time because it burns otherwise.
